Roger Harrell - Co-Founder and Vice President/Chief Technical Officer
Roger's keen understanding of and experience with technology, and his gifting and talents in music and worship are essential components to the success of AudibleFaith. He wrote his first computer program at age six, built his first IBM PC clone at age nine and has been deeply embracing the world of technology ever since.
A multi-instrumental musician since childhood, Roger was one of the earliest users of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) technology in the mid 1980s - a technology which has made it possible to create music completely within the computer and was the first definitive step toward digital music as we know it. Extremely comfortable with the marriage of computers and music, Roger understands the staggering implications of these rapidly changing fields as they transform the way we record, distribute and even listen to music. He is well versed in all technological aspects of our business: Internet development, Web site functionality, Web casting, programming, systems administration, software development, MP3/digital music production and more. He stays informed about technology developments that will affect AudibleFaith.com and maintains technical contacts that are integral to our successful development and growth.
In addition to the development and management of several dynamic production web sites, Roger developed SongSearch™, our proprietary search program that provides customers with one of the most extensive, yet easy to use music search tools available anywhere. He also developed our Web based e-mail system that provides free e-mail accounts to our members, proprietary AudibleFaith shopping cart software, and a database system that coordinates all information at our site including artist information, CD information, product list, order processing and financial reporting.
Roger received his degree in engineering from UC Davis and is currently employed by Bechtel Corp.
