before the earth and sky
Man was an idea
just a twinkle in God's eye

that Man will be in awe

Many kinds of creatures
even some with wings!
I'll let the earth be fertile
so he can plant some crops

He'll know that I am with him
through all the signs he'll see
And he'll take time, yeah, lots of time

So that was God's idea
and all of it He's done
The promises He made
have all been kept -- every one!
But Man's a disappointment
we haven't done our part
In fact more times than we could count we've broken God's great heart
We've not remembered who He is; we've rarely given thanks
We've told ourselves it's all
just one of mother nature's pranks
It all just sort of happened
and no one had a plan
And all that God has given us
has been the work of Man
Yet God goes on forgiving
in fact, He loves us still!
And still he longs for us to choose
to do the Father's will

He wants so much to reach us
that He sent along His Son
To show us all the wonders
that in His Name can be done
He's given us His Spirit
a Friend to dwell within
To show us right from wrong
and so to keep us free from sin
Jesus is our Pattern
His Spirit is our Guide
Every hour of every day
we walk side by side
For Christ alone is perfect
and in Him we are hid
And when God looks upon us
He just sees what Jesus did
If in His Christ, and Christ alone
we lay our every thought
If in this life we try to live
the way that Jesus taught
If when we fail, and fail we must
just being mortal men
We turn and ask forgiveness
so we may be clean again
If Jesus fills our being
so that every thought and word
Is to His honour and, through us
His message can be heard
If we accept in faith the gift
that Jesus came to give
Then God's Plan will be finished
and we with Him will live
If Jesus is our resting place
and Him alone we serve
The prize we win, the price He paid
is more that we deserve
For God will have His perfect world
just the way He planned
The only way inside for us
is holding Jesus' hand
For He will take there with Him
only those who trust in Him
For those who don't or won't
the future's looking pretty grim
So put your hand in Jesus hand
and I'll put mine there too
And we'll all be together
when God's Plan comes true
